Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Hafen

The Courtyard Düsseldorf Hafen is the newest hotel of the Marriott Group in Düsseldorf. It is located near the City and the Altstadt, which is 15 – 20 minutes walking distance away.

If you enter the hotel, you are right in front of the check-in desk. Some lounge chairs and an open restaurant are further in the building with nice views on the water.

The gym is located on the top floor and offers nice views to the harbour area, the Rheinturm and the Landtag (Parliament). It is not big, but well equipped and all machines are in good condition. A small sauna is also available.

The Harbour View rooms are these rooms, which does not have a view to the yard of the hotel, but to the street or the harbour. As you do not know which room you get (I wrote, I would like to have water view, but get street view) the extra amount for this room type is in the case you get street view not worth the supplement. The yard rooms and especially these in the lower floors are dark.

The neighbourhood of the hotel, especially in front of the hotel entrance, is not nice, as there is a construction area and a big parking place.

It is a standard room, with a small corridor with the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom is more of smaller seize, but probably okay as is has bath, toilet and sunk. Lams were really bright.

On the one side of the room was the bed along with two bedside tables with lamps and phone. Opposite the bed was the TV with the working desk on the one side. In front of the big window were a lounge chair, a small table and a reading lamp.

The furniture is new and so is the appearance of this modern styled hotel. The furniture is the same I saw in several new or renovated Renaissance hotels (e.g. the Bochum Renaissance) and also in the renovated CY Seestern.

Breakfast is served as buffet with the usual items. The nice thing during summer time (or in general if the weather is nice) one could have breakfast on a small terrace overlooking the water.

The views are not really nice as I was looking to the parking lot in front of the hotel and some not so nice parts of Düsseldorf Harbour.

The room rates vary between 54 EUR / weekend on a weekend and up to more than 400 EUR during a trade fare – for my point of view it is not worth to pay more than 85 EUR / Harbour view room.
