Four Points by Sheraton Central, Düsseldorf
(no longer a Four Points)

The Four Points by Sheraton Central in Düsseldorf is located near the main shopping district and the Old Town (Altsatdt) of Düsseldorf, but in a calm neighbourhood. You can reach the hotel by public transportation easily. Arriving at Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) you can take the trams 704, 709 or 719 to stop “Berliner Allee” and then take the street left hand side up to Luisenstraße (there is the headquarter of the travel agency “Explorer Fernreisen” just at this corner), it is less than 300 m to walk from the tram stop.

The hotel building is nothing special. The hotel is in two street houses of the early post war age with the entrance on the right side; it has four floors. If you enter the hotel you are standing in a small lobby, right hand side are some lounge chairs and some public internet terminals, right hand side is the reception and the bar area. The hotel has no restaurant, but there are several restaurants just round the corner or in walking distance.

The interior is nice, light brown wood with nice yellow / orange coloured walls and carpets, a little bit in a Scandinavian (or IKEA) Style. The staff is friendly and very helpful; also they sometimes answer telephone calls while checking you in. Usually, check in is fast and efficient and if you stay there in a short time more than two times you are greeted by name.

There are two lifts to reach the floors, one just opposite the entrance and another lift down the corridor. At this corridor is also the entrance to the room were breakfast is served in the morning.

The rooms are air conditioned. The rooms on the fourth floor on the street side have a small balcony; the rooms to the back do not offer a nice view but are a little bit calmer than to the front side. Due to the building, the rooms differ in seize and location. Rooms with wireless LAN are available on request (Provider is T-Mobile); the signal is stronger than in the Four Points in Cologne.

Every room has a minibar with four soft drinks free of charge. As SPG member, you get most of the time a room on the fourth floor.

Breakfast is an extended continental breakfast, it contains of scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon, ham, cheese, marmalade and jam, several sorts of bread and rolls and some pastries. Cereals and fruit salad are also available. The breakfast area is small in the main room are only tables for two or three people available, but there is another small room some steps down at the windows to the yard (a little bit hidden).

I checked in very late returning from Berlin. I got a spacious room facing the yard on the fourth floor of the hotel. A bottle of mineral water was placed on the table as gift of the hotel (nothing special, you will get it also if you book via hrs.de)

If you enter the room, there was a central switch for the power (unfortunately the sockets were also without power, so you could not charge a laptop etc. if you are not in the room), there was left hand side the bathroom. The bathrooms in this hotel are different in space and location. The bathroom has a bath with a glass panel, which is a little bit small. Behind the sunk is a big mirror and left hand side the hairdryer. Lotion, shampoo and conditioner are available.

The room has a working desk on one side of the room with the TV screen and below the tea and coffee facilities on a tablet, which could be pulled out of the desk. There are better solutions, but on the other side the place on the desk is not covered by these facilities. The minibar offers four bottles of soft drinks. The working desk is big; working with a laptop is possible as there are wall sockets nearby. The lamp could be turned away.

A lounge chair and a table are also placed in the room and a grad lit with two tables and another telephone. There is only a small cupboard near the entrance, to the space to hang clothes is a little bit limited but for someone, who lives out of the suitcase this should not be a problem. A trouser press was not placed in the room.

Room Number: 410
Room Rate: 58.00 EUR / night

This time I stayed there for a weekend. I checked in at 3.00 pm and was told, I would get a bigger room on the fourth floor. I noticed by booking that the prices for this weekend rises about three month before from 58,00 EUR to 110,00 EUR, the hotel was nearly fully booked and as I was told only a few rooms were left.

The room was in the middle of the fourth floor, facing to the street with a small balcony. The room itself was nice and really big. A bottle of mineral water was placed on the table as gift of the hotel.

Just near the entrance was a lounge chair and a sofa with a nice table. Between the two windows was the desk placed. The desk was smaller than in the room I had the last time (at least this was my impression), but working was possible. Left hand was the TV and below the tea and coffee facilities on a tableau, which could be pulled out of the board. Below was the minibar with four soft drinks, which were refilled every day. The bed was a double bed, again with a telephone on the bedside table. A modern painting hang over the bed, so the room had an even nicer and more private touch.

The bathroom has a bath with a glass panel, which is again a little bit small. Behind the sunk is a big mirror and right hand side the hairdryer. Lotion, shampoo and conditioner are available, towels were replaced and lotion etc. refilled every day.

A cupboard, a little bit bigger than in the other room and a trouser press were available. Again, you must use the central power switch.

This time I got room 402 on the fourth floor of the hotel facing to the street with balcony. The room was the smallest I had two days ago  but no matter to worry about.

I you enter the room, left hand side was the bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with a glass panel, which is again a little bit small. Behind the sunk is a big mirror and right hand side the hairdryer.

The room had a grand lit, again a nice painting over the bed. The bottle of mineral water was placed on one of the bedside tables as gift of the hotel. On the other bedside table was the telephone. The space between wall / Window and bet was small and especially in the night it is difficult to find your way. If you are alone, you could (and should) use the other side. As far as I know, this rooms is given as single and this is the sort of room you normally get if you book a single, so this time I did not get a better room than booked.

Opposite the bed in a corner was a working desk and left hand side the TV facing the bed and below the tea and coffee facilities and the minibar with four soft drinks. A small cupboard was near the entrance, where also the central power switch was placed.
