Introduction

Being app. 28000 Mls short of the magic 100000 Mls for Senator, I tried to get this miles flown in one trip, since a second planed trip could not take place. This means it has to be a distance of 14000 Mls in a full earning Economy fare. Sine this is quite an amount of miles, I decided to use only flights which earn Executive Bonus on Miles and More. This limited airlines to Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, United and US Airways. The only possible to maximize this would be United down to Australia or this flight on Austrian.

I learned that United offers a reasonable fare from Amsterdam to Sydney in Economy, which books in V and therefore earn 100 Mls on Lufthansas Miles and More Program. I also wanted to maximize the Hilton HHonors Points on this trip and therefore I booked a side trip to Arizona. It is hot, but Hotels are really cheap during this time and a visit to Taliesin West of Frank Lloyd Wright in nearby Scottsdale was another thing I wanted to do.
