Conclusion

This was only a quick trip to New York trying out the new Business Class of Lufthansa and not one of the longer trips involving a number or different airlines and flights. The new Business Class Cabin with finally fully flat seats is nice and its introduction long overdue compared to its competitors. I would rate the seats in H configuration as superior to the seats in V configuration. This would mean, I would most likely also go for a seat on the lower deck of the 747 instead of the preferred seats in the upper deck, where I would especially try to avoid the first row due to the proximity of the wall and the even narrower food rest.

Service was okay, friendly, and there was a personal greeting on both long haul flights. Meals and I would say also the wine list and the food options have also been improved compared to earlier flights. Serving champagne in Business Class was a surprise and I hope this would not have been an exception.

The inflight entertainment system with its bigger screen is also nice to have though I still did not find the selection very good and I usually did not find anything I really wanted to listen to or to watch. But this might be my very personal / subjective impression.

Compared to British Airways and Air France / KLM Lufthansa is going the right way. I would rate Lufthansa as better than British Airways with the new Business Class especially if it comes to food. The seat would be a different thing. The seat in H configuration is better than the offers of British Airways, thought I would slightly see leading British Airways if it is a V configuration seat on Lufthansa due to the smaller footrest.
