Trip Index Flights Phnom Penh

Bangkok Don Muang International

At the Transfer Desk I asked it if was possible to get an aisle seat instead of my middle seat. The agent asked if a seat in the back was also ok, because only 63G was available, and I ttook it. She wrote my new seat number and the gate number on it and gave me back the boarding pass; the told me also, that the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge / Frequent Traveller Lounge was just upstairs and wished me a good flight.

I took the escalator up and went to the lounge, which was busy this time, but I had no difficulties to find a seat. I took a coke and some slices of pineapple, mangos and melon, which was available this time. I read the current issue of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Asian Wall Street Journal and made also some phone calls to Germany.
Boarding was announced for 23.00 and I left again some minutes earlier on my way to gate A 26. This time I passed security without problems (I will never understand ….) and boarding had just started as I reached the gate.

Boarding began a little bit late at 23.05 with First Class / Business Class / Star Gold and families and then by row numbers.
I was one of the first Economy passengers boarding the plane and greeted by a female and a male flight attendant. I continue my way to my row in the back of the plane and but my carry on and my sweat jacket in the overhead bin.
Boarding was completed in time at 23.40 but it took another five minutes till the plane was pushed back. The plane was nearly full in Economy, only a few seats remain empty. In my row, there was only a man sitting on 63 D and a young Thai girl on 63 F.
Once airborne, headsets and the menu were distributed followed by a drink service. The in-flight entertainment was turned on and a film about the Beatles was shown. I did not watch the movie but read the Time Magazine I picked up in the FTL Lounge. Only after a couple of minutes, the flight attendants began to serve dinner on this flight.

I had the Garoupa, which tasted good. The Portion was large enough; I barely can eat is, and I had a small glass of white wine to the fish. I did again not catch the full name, but it was an Australian Wine, refills of wine were frequently offered and I had another glass of wine. I would like to point out, that the wine glasses of Thai are rather small. A quarter of an hour after the meal were distributed the flight attendants offered coffee, cognac and tea. Many passengers were still eating the main course, and in my eyes coffee etc. service was a little bit early this time. After I finished the dessert, I asked for the cognac and some tea with lime and after the tray were collected I continued to read a little bit in Time Magazine and listened to the music channels.
The captain made an announcement about the remaining flight time (the whole flight time was 11:50 h) and the route, which took us – if I read my notices correct – over Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Russia; Belo-Russia, Poland, Czech Republic to Germany.
Round about one and a half hours after take off the lights were dimmed and switched off before the film finished and I get some sleep. This time I sleep a little bit better, as the girl beside me took the middle of 63 E + F, so that it was possible to get some space of 63 F.
There was no real drink service during night. Only one flight attendant was in the galley offering water or orange juice on request.
The passengers in the row 63 and 61 disturbed me a little bit as they were chatting beside my seat without taking notice, that they were making some noise. They show each other the number of false Rolex watches , they bought in Thailand; in my eyes a very silly behaviour.
At two o clock MEZ I turn my reading light on; I asked my neighbour, if this will disturb her, but she told me, that it was no problem, if I like to read. So I continue to read the Time Magazine and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung of Wednesday, which I also picked up in the FTL Lounge in Bangkok. I did not notice, but suddenly the movies started. I did not remember, which one was shown, but it was something with Denzel Washington. Hot towels were provided some minutes before 4.00 a.m. and breakfast was served some minutes later.

I had the scrambled eggs, but it were not Tomatoes, there was only one. The flight attendants made several rounds offerings warm rolls and croissants and refills of coffee and tea.
The rest of the flight was again uneventful. After the trays were collected the flight attendants prepared everything for landing. We landed in Frankfurt at 5.20, some minutes prior to scheduled time.
Again, the Cabin seems to bit old. This time, the flight attendants disappeared in the middle of the flight and there was not real drink service during the flight. I missed this service and was again glad to have some water in my carry on (as usual).
As I was in the last section of Economy Class Cabin I was one of the last Economy Class Passengers who went off the plane (through the galley and the Business Class Exit).
