Düsseldorf International

I had stayed the night before my flight in the Holiday Inn Express Düsseldorf North and took the S-Bahn from the hotel to the airport. I had planed to sleep a bit longer, but unfortunately the wake up call came an hour to early at 04:50 in the morning instead of 05:50 and therefore I was earlier up than I had planed. I could not get more sleep and therefore get up at 05:05 and took a shower and dressed up. I skipped breakfast in the hotel and headed straight to the airport catching a train at 06:11.

First class check in was still relocated to other counters because they were rebuilding them. The API data was stored in the system. This time the data I entered the day before were saved in the system. I also was able to secure an exit row on the transatlantic segment during online check-in.

Probably due to less business travel in the Easter week, security was empty, not one was queuing there.

After I had stored my laptop again I headed for the Senator Lounge. A usuall I walked to the stairs, but there was a sign telling the entrance to the lounge was relocated right to gate A 70, just after security check. I had passed the signs, without even noticing it, but was told, I was not the first person. I read a bit in the papers, had a coffee and a glass of sparkling wine and ate a croissant and waited for the boarding time. Right at beginning of the scheduled boarding time I left the lounge for the gate where the boarding process had just started.

I used the self boarding gate and was on my way down the jetbridge to the plane. There I noticed it was the same plane I had been on my last flight from Frankfurt to Düsseldorf a month ago.

The passengers boarded the plane. The plane was not completely full and so the middle seat remained empty. Unfortunately this was one of the first rows which could not be converted into a business class seat.

We pushed back at 08:06, which was ahead of schedule, but it took some time before we finally were airborne at 08:23. We climbed into the sky and I took a short nap on this short 25 minute service to Frankfurt. The flight was uneventful and there was no service in Economy, while Business got a quick breakfast service. As far as I see they got a snack box, which consists of a muffin, a fruit salad and sandwich.

We began our final approach into Frankfurt, where we finally landed at 08:56 and arrived at our gate A 13 roughly eight minutes later.
