Trip Index Flights Hotels Diary

by FLYGVA and airoli
We took a cab to Changi and told the driver to stop at the entrance for passengers travelling in First Class. Soon we had stopped there and entered the Terminal a porter asked if we were travelling in First Class and took our luggage on the cart.

Again we used the nice separate First Class Check in area. We were greeted and shown a free desk. They were able to check the luggage straight to Kuala Lumpur but told us to ask for our boarding passes for the flight from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur in Bangkok.

Also our BTC order was confirmed and we got our boarding pass for the last segment of our trip. So we used a last time the Singapore First Class Lounge after a short wait at immigration. This time the lounge was not that crowded but still far away from being empty.

We have not had breakfast so we eat a little bit and got a cup of coffee. Reading a newspaper we got the latest news and as the sign was showing gate closing we went to our gate F 41

There were still some passengers queuing at the entrance to the gate but there was a separate counter for first and business class passengers which we were able to use.

At the entrance to the plane we were greeted by a flight attendant who showed us our seats. The jackets were taken. The first class cabin was this time nearly full with only two empty seats, while Business and Economy Class were fully booked.

Menus, blanket and headphones were placed on the seat or in the seat pocket.

We opted for Dom as predeparture drink and a flight attendant confirmed we still wanted to have our BTC selection. As usual we were addressed by name.

The safety video was shown and we pushed back right in time and were soon enough on our way to the runway. A Tiger Airways plane was taking off in front of us and it was our turn at 10.52.

On our way to the runway, we had some nice views

A last view of Changi International Airport and after only ten minutes flight time meal service stared and our table were once again laid with linen.

Meal service took some time and we finished it only 40 minutes prior to landing. The food was again good. The papaya salad tasted wonderful. I have had curry chicken “Peranakan” as main course, which was also very good. I had a few glasses of the Chardonnay and two cups of coffee for the fresh fruit and after it.

The crew was good. They were working were efficiently but one had never the feeling they were in a rush. I mean, it's not that easy to do a full meal service on such a short flight, where you probably will get only a tray with a salad on any European Carrier – if there will be a meal service at all

We had booked the cook, but if you prefer the menu and the wine list

Let’s hear about airoli’s selection form the BTC offerings:

For this flight, I had pre-ordered the "Pan-fried veal loin and braised veal cheek with parsnip purée, garden vegetables, and sautéed mushrooms" and was definitely pleased by it, both in taste and in appearance. The veal was surprisingly tender for in-flight food, but yet the entire meal was nowhere as memorable or enjoyable as the Japanese meal on BKK-SIN. Nothing to fault SQ for, it was just that by that time I had had so many First Class meals in such a short time that it was nearly impossible to continue making lasting impressions. It goes without saying that the flights 10:40am departure did not halt FLYGVA and myself from raising our champagne flutes one last time!

Indeed, this was the last segment of our Mileage Run in First Class and we enjoyed every minute of this experience. So a bottle – err… flute of champagne was the only way to celebrate this in the style appropriate for first class. We both did not watch a movie and at least I did not listen to the music channel.

Our table were cleared and at 11:40 we began our final approach into Bangkok's new airport where we touched down at noon. We arrived at our gate ten minutes later. We hat to let a LTU Boeing pass, probably on its way to Germany full of tourists. Well, we would find us back in reality of mass tourism in ten minutes as well.

As we arrived at the gate, passengers of Business Class were hold back until we had left the plane.
